You've got a notification. The process is complete. Riva will come in 3…2...1
Sumon came up from between her girlfriend's thighs, startled at the repeated notification from an hour ago. Her confused eyes met her Riva's before she scrambled to find the phone in her small room. She had thrown it away in excitement of seeing her love.
Her Riva shut her legs before she sat up on the single bed.
Sumon finally found her phone underneath the groaning desk just as a hand came out of the device. Then, the whole body of Riva squeezed out of it and Sumon had to scramble back. But this one had her pants on, unlike her girlfriend sitting with a dazed look behind her.
"Hey, babe!" The newcomer chirped.
The process is complete. Riva will come in 3…2…1
All three of them looked with their brows furrowed at the phone lying on the ground.
"What's happening?" Both Riva looked at Sumon for answers with the same expression.
The marketing genius couldn't even pick up her phone before the third one came out with a struggle, "Whew! That was not as easy as you made it out to be. So, what…" She stopped at the sight of a crowded bedroom.
Sumon ran to her desk to turn on her system as her phone pinged again. She had been warned by her friends in the engineering department to delete the app from her phone.
But she believed in its work. She had seen the prototype work in the meeting. The head engineer had called over an intern from the other room, and then one member from the accounting team won the draw to call over his mother. The lady cried at seeing her son after five years while the whole team rejoiced at the success of its hard work.
Sumon had started her campaign after a week. They were getting a phenomenal response after only three months, with more than seventy percent market interest in pre ordering the product. But the company decided to stop the launch and scrap it. No explanations were given to the employees.
When Sumon had asked one of her friends in the IT department, the woman gave her a vague answer of too many bugs and risk of malfunction.
But Sumon had made a promise to her girlfriend. They had not met for two years because of her job. And her company was going to shut down the operations the next night. They only had one day together. And the app had worked, damn it!
There were four more of Riva in the room by the time her friend picked up the video call. She didn't need to explain the situation. He saw the results in front of him, "Shut it down! Shut it down! Now!"
Sumon picked up her phone after another Riva came out of it. It took her some precious seconds to locate the app. She closed it while a finger was coming out of the gadget. The limb went back, and the women breathed a sigh of relief.
Her Riva had put on her pants by now and was crying. Sumon went to console her that everything would be okay when the room erupted into chaos.
They all started crying and chanting, "I don't want to go back, please!" when one of them went back through the phone.
One by one, they were all sucked back, a far more gruesome sight than when they came out.
Sumon knew it was time to let go of her lover soon. She held her hands and kissed her as her legs went down.
Your device is shutting off now. Please plug in your charger.
Sumon's eyes widened as her Riva let out a bloody scream.
This is my first entry for
Season Six.
Very nice. Don't see too many techno-horrors on Substack, and yours stuck the landing beautifully!
Solid. Frightening scenario, but as a story, solid :)
